WELCOME TO THE COMPUTER WORLD
Q no.1) What is COMPUTER ?
= Computer is an electric machine that perform arithmetical
and logical operation.
And also computer is an electronic device that input data
as a raw material and then process it and at last give output as a result.
History of Computer
1) Abacus:- An abacus is a mechanical device used to aid an individual
in performing mathematical calculations. The abacus was invented in 2400 BC. It is used to perform basic arithmetical
operations.
2) Napier’s
Bones:- It was invented by John Napier in 1614. It allows the operator to multiply,
divide, and calculate square and cube root by moving the rods around and
placing them in specially constructed boards.
3) Slide
Rule :- It was invented by William Oughtred in
1622. It is based on Napier’s ideas about logarithms used primarily for
multiplication, divisions, roots, logarithms and Trigonometry. Not normally
used for addition and substration.
4) Pascaline:- It was invented by Blaise Pascal in 1642. It was it’s limitation
to addition and substration. It was also too expensive.
5) Stepped
Reckoner:- It was invented by Gottfried William von
Leibniz in 1672. The machine that can be add, subtract, multiply and divide
automacially.
6) Jacquard
Loom:- The Jacquard Loom is a mechanical loom
invented by Joseph- Marie Jacquard in 1881. It is an automatic loom controlled
by punched cards.
